Well Fed BBQ Pork & Veggie Paleo Wrap Recipe

Who doesn’t love a great BBQ sauce, especially one that’s freshly made out of your own kitchen using real ingredients!  This is Dan from Primal4Life bringing you the “Well Fed BBQ Pork & Veggie Paleo Wrap”.  Condiments are something most people overlook when eating right….  And I’m talking about just about any type of diet, most people resort to bland meals and that doesn’t have to occur!  Tonight’s Paleo dinner gets totally enhanced with Melissa Joulwan’s BBQ Sauce recipe from her book Well Fed 2 with some organic pork, and a couple great veggies in a Turmeric Paleo Wrap!

Starting things off, we took Melissa’s BBQ Sauce recipe and made a minor enhancement with more nutrient dense Paleo products, and it came out uhhmazing!  And since it’s made with a bunch of fresh, day to day ingredients, I am more than happy to let this BBQ Sauce in on the dinner fun.  Besides the sauce and pork, I’ve decided to grill up some wonderful veggies:  golden beets that were flavored up with Garlic Nuco Liquid Premium Coconut oil, some minced garlic, and fresh dill.  And, some asparagus, also done in that Garlic Nuco Liquid Premium Coconut oil (it’s that good, trust me!).  Meanwhile, it’s going in the ultimate wrap ever; the Turmeric Paleo Wrap from Julian Bakery!  It’s made from organic coconut, its low in carbs, low in calories, strong like bull, flexible like a gymnast, and low glycemic.  Plus they are made gluten and grain free, they do not have soy or dairy, no starch or salt has been added, and they lack GMO’s too!  Talk about the perfect wrap!

Ingredients (for the BBQ Sauce):

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • ¼ cup Coconut Vinegar
  • 2 TBSP Coconut Aminos
  • 1 TBSP Dijon mustard
  • 1 TBSP sunflower seed butter
  • 1 tsp hot pepper sauce
  • 1 date, pit removed
  • 1 TBSP Garlic Nuco Liquid Premium Coconut Oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ¼ tsp dry mustard powder
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch ground allspice

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the water, tomato paste, apple sauce, coconut vinegar, coconut aminos, mustard, sunflower seed butter, hot pepper sauce, and date.  Puree until smooth.
  2. Heat the coconut oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat, about 2 minutes.  Add the garlic, chili powder, cayenne, dry mustard, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, and allspice.  Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Pour the tomato mixture into the saucepan, and whisk to combine.  Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer gently, uncovered, until the sauce thickens, about 20 minutes.
  4. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.  Store covered in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
