Savory Sausage Paleo Wrap

What happens when you mix a bunch of healthy produce, the best wrap you can find, and some quality organic meats?  You get this!  This is Dan from Primal4Life bringing you a “Savory Sausage Paleo Wrap”.  Yesterday’s shopping extravaganza resulted in so many ideas floating around in my mind.  This morning, the ground sausage was the first thing that I craved, and so be it.  Breakfast has been decided!  But how will I make that sausage come to life?  How will I keep it Paleo, so that I am getting a bunch of nutrition?  How will I keep it low-carb, yet filling?  How will I season it with the healthiest of products, yet allow it to be savory?  Watch and learn…

Along with the nitrate free organic sausage, I am busting out a bunch of produce to allow this wrap to stand out.  Red kale, avocado, fresh tomato, chopped scallion, and even some shallots for a kick.  This fruit/veggie medley is how I enhance a lot of meals, so that I am not focusing just on the protein itself.  I like to incorporate a wide array of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in to my foods, so I can experience not just a varied nutrition level, but different tastes too!

But how will this meal be cooked?  What will hold it all together?  You ask very good questions….  Paleo Butter is first to go into my cast-iron skillet, which is made from grass-fed cows, and virtually lactose free.  It’s much more heat stable compared to olive oil, nut oils, or vegetable oils which I highly suggest we stay away from.  And, it’s tasty, creamy, goes great on just about anything, and it’s loaded with vitamins A, D, and K2, along with CLA Tonalin!  Once these savory sausage patties are cooked up to perfection, we are going to wrap them in some Paleo Wraps!  They are the ultimate way to enjoy just about any meal, they are low in calories (just 70!), low in carbs (just 4 net carbs), they have a nice, soft coconut flavor because they are made from organic, non-GMO coconut meat and water, and they are gluten/grain/soy/dairy/starch/yeast free!  It doesn’t get any better than that folks!  Especially when you are trying to eat clean, feel good, and stay low carb.

Ingredients:

  • ½ lb organic ground sausage
  • ¼ shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 scallion, chopped
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • 1 red kale leaf (stem removed)
  • ¼ fresh tomato, chopped
  • Quantum Pink Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 2 TBSP fresh organic salsa
  • ½ TBSP Paleo Butter
  • Paleo Wraps

Directions:

1)      Form sausage patties, while combining the ground sausage with the scallion, shallot, and seasoned with salt & pepper.

2)      Melt Paleo Butter in pan, then add sausage patties to pan on medium heat.

3)      While sausage patties are cooking, lay out your Paleo Wrap(s), add red kale and avocado.

4)      When sausage is cooked through, add to Paleo Wrap(s), top with remainder of avocado, fresh tomato, salsa, and add more salt & pepper if you wish.

What a great way to kick off my morning….  Granted, this was quite a large meal, you could split it in half and share it, as a ½ pound of ground sausage and all the toppings are pretty hefty for one person.  But in the end, I still feel great, I am satisfied, and I still managed to eat what I consider a very healthy meal.  Although it was nearing 1,000 calories (I really don’t count calories anymore by the way), it had 42 grams of protein, just 12 grams of sugar, under 20 grams of net carbs, and 12 grams of fiber.  It had 74% fat, 14.5% protein, and 11.5% carbs.  I’m a growing boy, and I don’t have the need to snack.  This it is for my morning fill up, and I’m good until after noon, maybe even later!  Meanwhile, it’s also my day off from working out….  I eat till I’m full, I keep it healthy, low carb, free of processed foods, and I maintain a healthy weight while feeling good and enjoying some incredible meals.
