Paleo Wrap Carne Asada Recipe

Carne asada is commonly prepared in the northern and western parts of Mexico, but tonight it’s being served Paleo style right here in Connecticut!  This is Dan from Primal4Life bringing you ”Paleo Wrapped Carne Asada and Carne Asada Burrito.”  Since the new Paleo Wraps hit the streets, folks have been able to walk up to a food truck and upgrade to Paleo… How?  By tossing that grain infested taco shell and swap it with a Paleo Wrap!  So easy, so healthy, and so tasty!   Now you have the option to go both ways; toss that taco shell, or a large tortilla as well!  Julian Bakery is taking the Paleo Wrap to the next level with the XL Paleo Tortilla!  Same ingredients so you know you are getting that great organic non-GMO coconut…  Same maker so you know its quality stuff that you can count on being uber healthy….

The XL Paleo Tortilla is just bigger so you can really get a hungry man’s meal down, without the negative ingredients that the “Hungry Man” meals came with…. Remember those days?  I do, and I don’t know what I was thinking!?!?!??  Nowadays we have been educated, we’re avoiding the processed foods, we’re staying away from all that sodium, and not eating food in a box.  What we are doing is eating real food that has been made naturally and organically…. Cared for from the place it was grown, all the way to where it was carefully wrapped and sent onto you.  And Julian Bakery makes that happen!

  • 1 Paleo Wrap
  • 1 XL Paleo Tortilla
  • 1 1/2 pounds (grass fed) flank steak
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Pinch cayenne pepper
  • 2  limes, juiced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 8 to 12 ounces beef broth
  • ½ tsp Himalayan Salt

1)      Slice the flank steak on the diagonal into thin strips.

2)      Combine all ingredients in a large Ziploc bag or in a shallow dish (meat should be completely covered in liquid).

3)      Marinate in the refrigerator at least 3 hours. Take out and drain off the marinade. Lightly salt the steak. The meat can be cooked in a skillet with coconut oil or grilled.

4)      Cook 3-6 minutes on each side for medium-rare.

5)      Add to Paleo Wrap and XL Paleo Tortilla, add your favorite toppings.  We used an avocado lime salsa with fresh tomato and onion, and seasoned with more Himalayan Salt and black pepper.

Makes:  1 wrap and 1 burrito

The marinade recipe was found at Mark’s Daily Apple, and it had a wonderful taste with just enough spice….  Although the original recipe called for beer rather than beef broth… I passed, as that probably would send me onto the couch for quite some time.  Yes, very sensitive here, and this is why I stick to hardcore Paleo/Primal meals, ingredients, and pretty much anything on Julian Bakery’s site.  They offer products that I trust aren’t going to have grains, gluten, soy, or anything else that is going to send me packin’.  I feel great, I am slowly recovering after battling Leaky Gut Syndrome, and I am always satiated.  This is due to eating clean, while enjoying Julian Bakery products like Paleo Bread or Paleo Wraps… And now the same applies with the XL Paleo Tortilla!

If you are looking for an ultra strong tortilla, that can hold a ton, is transportable for your meals on the go or at the office, and is healthy; the XL Paleo Tortilla has landed!  Remember, same organic ingredients, still low calorie and low carb, no salt added, vegan and raw, and most importantly it tastes great!  So take a moment to order ‘em up at along with your Paleo Wraps and Paleo Bread!  Don’t forget some healthy toppings, like Paleo MeeNut Butter, Nutiva Coconut Manna, and Paleo Butter!  I hope you enjoyed our carne asada, done two ways: in a Paleo Wrap and XL Paleo Tortilla.  Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet for a Paleo food blog, and I hope you come again!
