Paleo Toro Sandwich Recipe

One of my favorite cuts of sushi is “Toro”, and tonight I’m going to show you how I would turn this delicacy into an awesome Paleo sandwich!  This is Dan from Primal4Life bringing you a ”Paleo Toro Sandwich!”  Toro is one of the most valued sushi cuts; it’s also one of the fattiest which is probably why I love it.  It’s basically the tuna’s belly, and if you haven’t tried it, put it on your bucket list.  Better yet, put this sandwich on your bucket list!!  I am using a nice half pound piece of Toro, and with just a few Paleo ingredients from Julian Bakery, we can create a tasty meal.

So I start off with getting the grill going, then I have my avocado and tomato ready…. My Toro gets taken out of the fridge, and I sprinkle some Sunfood Super Foods Fine Himalayan Crystal Salt and black pepper on it, along with a dose of Coconut Secret – Coconut Aminos.  It’s similar in taste to soy, personally I don’t think it’s as strong as soy; it’s better!  And, it’s better for you!  It has a bunch of B vitamins, vitamin C, and amino acids.  Plus, its non-GMO, organic, and you can get it from Julian Bakery along with that healthy Himalayan Salt that I just mentioned.  Next, I get a couple slices of Coconut Paleo Bread out from my freezer, and both slices go on my grill.  Paleo Bread is the only bread that will go on my plate, and the only bread that deserves a piece of Toro in between each slice!  After a few minutes, I add the Toro; which only will be on for a short while as I do not want to overcook it. 

Ingredients:

• 2 slices coconut Paleo Bread or Wrap It With Paleo Wraps

• ½ lb Toro

• ½ avocado, sliced

• 2 slices tomato

• 1 ½ tsp Coconut Secret – Coconut Aminos

Sunfood Super Foods Fine Himalayan Crystal Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1)      Fire up your grill, and when warm, add Paleo Bread

2)      When Paleo Bread is almost done, add Toro after seasoning with Coconut Aminos, Himalayan Salt and black pepper

3)      Cook Toro briefly, just a minute or two per side.

4)      When done, create your sandwich with Paleo Bread, Toro, avocado, and tomato.

5)      Add more Coconut Aminos if you like.  I did!

• 8 minutes

I never tried this sandwich before, to be honest… and I wish I did, because it was so soft, so moist, and had a ton of awesome flavor.  Each bite made me wish it wasn’t coming to an end.  The crispy edges on my Coconut Paleo Bread were great, the soft Toro was cooked to perfection, and the Coconut Aminos soaked in and gave it some added flavor and health benefit.  Also, the avocado and tomato were definitely an important part of the combination! 

So why do I only use Paleo Bread?  Because it doesn’t have GMO’s, grains, gluten, soy, or yeast… It’s made with organic ingredients, it’s low in carbs, calories, and has protein and fiber.  Oh, and it’s the only bread that doesn’t make me sick…. I have tried just about all of them, just because it’s gluten-free doesn’t mean it’s healthy for you…. And this is why almond and coconut flour works for me, it’s actually only of the healthier gluten-free options!
