This is Dan from Primal4Life bringing you ”Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries.” Are you looking for that perfect topping for your salad? Or a new all-natural flavor to add to your home-made trail mix? How about a new organic item to change up your favorite smoothies? Well, I have just the thing for you! When I was ordering up some more Paleo Bread and other goodies through Julian Bakery the other day, I spotted a new product called Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries, and they peaked my curiosity. I’ve had them a few years ago, and I knew this super food was tart and sweet, but after seeing that Sunfood offers these without GMO’s, they are certified organic, and there’s no additives or added sugars, I needed to give these golden berries another shot.
When the shipment from Julian Bakery arrived, without issues I might add, I noticed that the bag for the Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries was quite large!! Wow, you get a full pound in this bag o’ berries! The bag lists all of the good things that we want to know, like the lack of GMO’s, and how it’s organic, but also that these are a great source of vitamin A which helps your eyes and skin, vitamin C which is great for your immune system, protein to help your muscles repair and grow, iron for your blood, along with pectin and niacin. Plus is pretty cool to read the story on the back of the package and learn about how golden berries come from the ancient mountaintop citadel of Machu Picchu. Sunfood grows their golden berries high in the Andes, at just the right altitude. After they are harvested, the berries are gently dried at low temperatures to preserve nutrients and keep vitamins and minerals intact.
- Certified organic golden berries
Golden berries add a sweet and tangy twist to smoothies and trail mixes, or eat them straight out of the bag!
Once I opened the bag, I got a nice aroma of a fancy raisin…. But then something happened. My mouth began to water, I could immediately sense the tartness. I then reached into the bag and ate one of the Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries, and it had a great flavor, a nice texture… But where was that tartness? Oh, THERE IT IS!!! These golden berries definitely were much juicier, tangier and simply “fresher” than that other brand that I tried. Suddenly my daughter came strolling through the kitchen and saw what I was eating, and was skeptical to try something new. You know how five year olds are….. When I told her it was like a big juicy raisin, but tart like a Sour Patch Kid candy, she decided to try one. And she loved it! Comparing these to her golden raisins that she usually likes to eat, I notice the nutritional differences immediately. One serving of the Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries has eighty calories, seventeen carbs, five grams of fiber, eleven grams of sugar, and two grams of protein. Plus all of the super-food benefits that I mentioned above. One serving of her golden raisins on the other hand has one hundred and thirty calories, twice the carbs, only two grams of fiber, a whopping twenty-nine grams of sugar, and half the protein. I think I know which I’d rather have my daughter eating, plus the fact that Sun-Maid doesn’t list anything about their product being GMO free, organic, how they were grown or made….. And that they come with sulfur dioxide, awesome. Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries take the win! I tried them right out of the bag, in a salad, and in a trail-mix with other healthy ingredients like the Paleo Granola – Cacao Nut which tasted great with these delicious golden berries!
So make sure you stop by www.JulianBakery.com/Paleo and try some Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries with your next order. They taste great, they go well with all sorts of foods or by themselves, your children will love them, and they have an expiration date that’s three years out for all you “Preppers” out there. I hope you enjoyed my review of the Sunfood Superfoods Incan Golden Berries and if you try them, please leave a comment below… I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for stopping by and have a healthy day!
